The Wrong Question

AOL ran a story today about the movie 300 making so much money. They asked this question: "Critics panned 300, but it still made tons of money. Are critics wrong?" Personally, I think the question is stupid. An opinion can neither be wrong nor right.
Critics just give their two cents. Some moviegoers, like myself, read them. Some moviegoers just don't care.
Critics don't predict box office take. That job is left to marker analysts and money men. A review focuses on quality and not quantity. Even a reviewer who gave 300 an A+ would never have predicted 70 millions bucks.
Folks love to bash on critics. We all love to hate on people with opinions. Speaking of opinions...I think we should all find one or two reviewers that we gnerally agree with and read their reviews and ignore all the rest. And even still, if something catches your eye, go see it. You will never agree with someone on every movie. It's impossible.
The only thing that the mixed and negative reviews for 300 proved is that most moviegoers put very little stock into what a critic thinks.

OUT!

"most moviegoers put very little stock into what a critic thinks."

This statement is absolutely proven true by all the TV shows that get rave reviews but get cancelled. How many times have you seen a show that is a "critic's darling" but only lasts a season? Same happens with movies, too. There are plenty of movies that get great ratings that nobody goes to see.
