What's Worth Seeing

It's that time again. A look at the weekly movie openings for Memphis. This week looks pretty thin, but the one movie that is worth mentioning is well worth the solo slot.

300
Summary (From IMDB.COM): Based on Frank Miller's graphic novel, "300" concerns the 480 B.C. Battle of Thermopylae, where the King of Sparta led his army against the advancing Persians; the battle is said to have inspired all of Greece to band together against the Persians, and helped usher in the world's first democracy.

My $.02: The trailers look amazing. Frank Miller's Sin City was awesome. The action looks promising. The story is inspiring. And the special effects and cinematography look radical and groundbreaking. So can 300 really live up the hype? The preliminary reports on Rotten Tomatoes seem to be torn. Right now the meter is hanging around 58% which is considered rotten.

My Anticipation: 7.0 (out of 10).
