Box Office Trends

I haven't seen the new Harry Potter flick, but it stands poised to compete for the top spot in movie grosses for 2007 at the box office.

I was shocked when I looked back at the 2006 numbers. I had totally forgotten that Night at the Museum was the number 2 movie of the year. It wrapped up with nearly 251 million bucks. The top 5 were:

Pirates 2 (423 Million)
Night at the Museum
Cars
X-Men 3
Superman

So far 2007 looks like this:

Spider-man 3 (334 million)
Shrek 3
Pirates 3
Transformers (222 and gaining)
300 (210, but it's already closed it's run)

Harry Potter is close behind at 8th on the year after an amazing first week.

Lots of good stuff still to come too.

OUT!

It amazed me how well this Harry Potter film is doing! I think maybe people are just starved for anything HP, especially with the last book coming out.

Christy came into town this weekend, and she said she has already seen it twice! I'm sure she's not the only one.
