The Top 25 ESPN Coaches Poll for the 2007 football season has just been released. While I don't completely agree with the rankings I think that the top two teams are indisputable, but NOT SO FAST as Corso might say. Michigan is going to have a say-so in this thing.
Below is the poll. Beside some of the teams are my predictions for their records. Some of the teams even have a list of games that I think they will lose.
Below the poll is a list of other area teams of interest and their predicted record.

1. USC (11-1, loss @ California)
2. LSU (11-1, loss to Florida)
3. Florida (10-2, losses to Auburn and @ Georgia)
4. Texas (9-3, losses to TCU, Oklahoma, and @ Texas A&M)
5. Michigan (11-1, loss to Wisconsin)
6. West Virginia
7. Wisconsin
8. Oklahoma
9. Virginia Tech
10. Ohio State

Call me bias, but I don't see the Canes losing 5 games. The Canes problem in the past 3 years has been attitude and not talent. I'm not saying that this program is among the elite schools in talent right now. All I'm saying is that you're not going to convince me that there are 20 teams in college football today that have more talent than The U. Attitude is key and attitude has changed. I feel as good about this program as I have in the past 3 years. Granted, we haven't seen anything yet to show anything different on the football field. It's just my feeling of Hurricane pride is back. That's been lacking in the past 3 years. This is the most excited I've been about our program in the past 3 years or so.

About the preseason rankings in college football. They are fun to have a debate over, but I really hate them. I almost wish they's do away with preseason rankings altogether. It's not like the NFL where teams have a good nucleus and you can judge them from year to year. In college, the teams are changed so drastically from year to year. I guess I want them to hold off until we've see the teams play at least 1 week before ranking them. There are several occasions where a team has had to climb from like 20 all the way down to the top 5. It takes 7 or 8 weeks to that sometimes. It's unfair to me.

Auburn didn't get to play in a national championship game a few years ago because they started so far down. They finished 3rd in the BCS. I wonder how things would have played out if they weren't ranked so low in the top 25 to start the season. That's just an example of the top of my head.
